What to expect
Treatments are restful and relaxing. Helping the body to return to an improved, natural state of health, your session will vary depending on the condition and will include the appropriate combination of the following:
-An initial health consultation to decide the unique course of action specific to you and your needs.
-Dietary and lifestyle suggestions, aiding the efficacy of treatment.
-Herbal recommendations and prescription.
-Electro acupuncture using small electrodes on the tip of carefully chosen points- this is often used for muscular-skeletal conditions and feels similar to the sensation of a TENS machine
-Cupping (a type of deep tissue, lymph drainage), moxibustion therapy
-Reflexology/acupressure is used at the end of all sessions unless requested otherwise
What can be treated by Acupuncture?
Acupuncture successfully treats a wide range of conditions with each person
assessed individually in relation to their overall health and constitution.
Acupuncturists look at the person as a whole and aim to understand the root of the
disease not only the manifestation. As many common conditions can be fueled by stress, and indeed rooted in stress, acupuncture is in a unique position for offering relief from these symptoms as well as conditions as varied as muscular- skeletal strain, sleep problems, arthritis, sinusitis, headaches, depression, and lack of energy. Acupuncture for Pregnancy
The Chinese have a belief that the health of the mother during pregnancy must be
upheld as conditions formed in pregnancy can often be long lasting and stubborn
to treat. In the same manner one has the potential to better the overall health of
the mother, and thus the child, during this potent time. For this reason pregnancy
is an excellent time to receive this gentle and beneficial treatment.
Having received specialist training from renowned midwife and acupuncturist
Debra Betts, Lauren finds great joy in working with women during pregnancy.
Acupuncture can be a great help for conditions such as nausea, sciatica,
headaches, heartburn, oedema, fatigue, anxiety, insomnia, malpositioning (ie
breech and posterior). Conditions such as sinusitis and asthma respond well to
acupuncture, often reducing or eliminating the need for Western medicines.
Additionally, acupuncture balances hormonal levels and normalizes blood
pressure. For recurrent miscarriage, acupuncture and herbal treatments are an
effective treatment for securing the health of the mother and baby.
Pre Birth Acupuncture
From 36 weeks, acupuncture is a beneficial and effective treatment to prepare the
body for birth. Addressing any underlying health concerns can often mean the
difference between encountering challenges during labour vs a much more
efficient and satisfying birth experience.

I went to see Lauren in the late stages of pregnancy to prepare me for birth and in an attempt to avoid retained placenta which I had in my previous 2 pregnancies. I had 4 treatments and could not have been happier, I felt completely supported and in the best possible hands. I received not only acupuncture but also cupping and reflexology. The treatments themselves were conducted to very high professional standards and I was completely at ease with Lauren whose gentle and compassionate personality shone through. Best of all though was that the birth of my beautiful daughter went peacefully and the placenta came out without any need for surgery. I would recommend Lauren and acupuncture to anyone.
